Pretty Pink Posh Watercolour Blog Hop

I'm taking part of the Pretty Pink Posh Watercolour blog hop. I'm doing the 30 days of coloring challenge hosted by Kathy at The daily marker and did this card yesterday on my "colouring time". I got the Gansai Tambi watercolours but to be honest I'm having a really hard time using them. I made this card twice trying to use them and in the end I just sprayed the second card with water, blotted it all off and used my distress inks on top of it instead. It still have some of the shimmer from the pearlescent paint form the Gansai Tambi set, and the splatters too but the gemstones are made with distress ink. I guess I need practice (and a good teacher, volunteers? Anyone?)

Klick the graphic to go to the start of the blog hop, I'm so looking forward to hopping along and looking at everyones creations. I must say that the thing I enjoy the most with the 30 days colouring challenge is this thing I do every night. After going to bed I click the hashtag for the 30 days coloring challenge and browse through all the creations for the day. So many wonderful creations. There is a hashtag for this hop too, #watercolorbloghop . I'll be sure to klick on that too to see everything. (FYI, if you are wondering why I keep spelling the word color differently all the time. In school here we learn British english, but then all I see is American english and that's what my spellcheck wants to use and so I get totally confused and keep using different spelling. So now you know. Sorry about that...)

Here's a closeup of the card. The stamps are Winnie & Walter and I adore this set called My Precious. Oh, to have that handwriting. One can only dream... Anyways, the gems are embossed with Silver Pearl embossing powder and the sentiment with Silver Sparkle embossingpowder, both from WOW. What I couldn't catch with the camera was the shimmer on the background, it's very pretty!

So, thank you for stopping by here on your way through the hop. I am really glad I could find the time to finish a project for the hop! Now I'll go pack up my crafty stuff, this weekend I'm going to take Project Life classes with Becky Higgins and also having a crafty day with my friends on Sunday. A whole weekend of fun ahead. I hope you'll have a great one too :)

Die cutting and background stamp

HeroArts_WinnieWalter_diecut

So, for my post on the A Blog Named Hero facebook page today I wanted to use one of my neglected background stamps, the Vertical Arrows by Hero Arts. This one is a favourite of mine but I rarely use it. I really should figure out more ways to use my backgrounds because they are so lovely. For this I white embossed the stamp on Neenah Destert Storm cardstock and coloured it with distress ink.

Then I diecut the In a word hugs cutaway from Winnie and walter and one of the leave dies from in bloom, Maggies roses set. I did some extra diecuts of each out of white cardstock to stack up the diecuts. When I was done the pattenr kinda made me a bit dizzy and I diecut the shapes again from vellum and adhered on top of the die cuts to tone them down a bit and that looked perfect. I used the X-shaped sticker machine from Xyron to make the vellum sticky without any ugly adhesive showing through.

I hope you like it, I had fun making it and it turned out very pretty I think!

Coloring outside the lines

DIP_tack2

I got asked if I could make a card for my daughters teacher to give with the end of the year gift. Of course I could! Since she loves flowers I got the task to make a card with flowers. Not really my strong side ;) But I did have some flower stamps at least and these poppies I never used. They begged to be turned into a graphical styled card and I wanted to try to make it a bit artsy. I've seen some of my favourite card makers making cards with messy coloring, so pretty! Here's the thing. I'm a control freak. I really need to keep things neat. I hate coloring outside the lines. It can drive me crazy if I do. Well, I took a deep breath and just... painted a big blob of red on each flower. It looked terrible! I continued painting the stems, making sure to go over the lines again (insert cringe here). It still looked awful. I had to add some shadowing, it helped. Then I went crazy splattering with paint over the whole thing and then it suddenly stopped looking awful and started looking... interesting. After pairing it with some black and white patterned paper (my new addiction) I was quite pleased with myself. But it still bothers me a bit. What if someone thinks I ment to paint inside the lines and failed! Did I say I'm a neat control freak when it comes to colouring?

The thing is that the whole flowery theme made me nervous. So the first card was actually my third (ok fourth) card. So, while I watercolored my first card (that I later tossed) I also made this, trying to foil a more intricate stamp, using FabFoil and Bonding powder. Just to see how it would look. Let me tell you, it looks so great you have no idea! Like my son said when seeing the glow in the dark embossing powder. That's probably why they are called WOW! The pink foil looks great on the flower stamp. I stamped with VersaMark and heated it before layering the foil, pretty side up, and a copy paper on top. The copy paper is just because I know my laminator pulls the foil crooked and it gets crinkly if I don't use it. After running it through the laminator it looked a bit blobby but fear not. I used a stiff brush, one used to stipple paint through stencils, and rubbed over the foil. Since the stamp is so intricate the foil sort of sticks together and if you just rub it of all the loose foil comes out and leaves this detailed image. Great, right?!

Look at that pretty shine! I topped it with some glitter stickers and gem stones to make it perfect. While doing this I started on my third card, watercolored it, did not like it, tried to save it by attaching vellum on top to soften it. Still didn't like it. Tossed it. Started on the fourth card that is the one that was picked to be given. Phew. Flowers...

Well, lots of words today. The top card is also my post at Design in Papers today. All the material is listed there. And for my Swedish friends, there is still a few spots left for Becky Higgins classes in Stockholm and Gothenburg. I'll be there helping out and taking the classes Saturday June 6 in Gothenburg, hope to see you there! I'm super excited, I ordered a million photos and got them yesterday. Can't wait to see what I can learn!

Be back this Saturday, I'll be showing a lot of Art Journaling. It's my day at CiLi in Papers and I saved some of my other pages to show you then too.

Magnolia

Magnolia

Well, this is a rare occation. I actually coloured up a Magnolia. I won this stamp and some other lovely things in the Copic Sweden bloghop a while back and I just had to color her up. And I did it the "traditional" way, using distress ink. I had to do it a couple of times before I was happy with the colouring and then I really had no choice but to put her on a card. I am not good with the romantic style, I even added a few flower but got annoyed and tore them of again. I had a lot of fun practicing my colouring but not so much making a card out of it.

Here is a fact about me to go with the card. I actually live in the towh where all the Magnolia stamps are made. I used to see the Magnolia shop from my window where I used to work. And I now own exactly two stamps. They are fun to color though. I could color a bunch and not make cards with them I guess. But that seems like a waste. I was really happy about my prize anyways, I love getting some things I'd never buy myself. It's fun having some new things to try once in a while :)

Create your own background challenge

Ww_background_challenge

Me and my friend Tesa had a scrap date for (inter)national scrapbook day. Well we live kinda far apart so we had a date over the net but it was still fun. My mojo must have gone on vacation because I had a hard time getting anything done but in the end I got two cards done and had a lot of fun while making them.

So this card is for the Make your own background challenge that Winnie & Walter hosted together with Pinkfresh Studios. I made a soft pastel background with jewels on and used one of the new Winnie and Walter dies for the sentiment. The jewels are stamped with glitter embossingpowder for extra sparkle.

I'll be right back with the other card I made for the Puffy Stickers challenge.

Loving Lawn Fawn

I've been excited to get my hands on some Lawn Fawn stamps lately. I just love their cute little critters, they are so much fun to color. I'll post another card on wednesday illustrating me getting a bit crazy with the coloring but that's then and for now I'll just show you these two cards. IMG_9478

This first one I made using the Let's roll set. I love sushi, there is probably no food as addictive as sushi once you get over the initial two tasts. I prefer mine without wasabi though but with lots of Soy. So this sentiment was just perfect :) I colored this using my Copics, I have not been practicing as much as I intended, I got swamped with other stuff. But yesterday I just relaxed and enjoyed some pretty easy coloring and this is the result.

IMG_9480

For my other card I used the Blissful Botanical set. I white embossed the long border stamp a few times and then colored it using distress markers. I wasn't sure what to do next, I loved the result and the sentiments in the set was a bit to small for my card but then I found this hello die on my table and just went with it. Love the background, wish I had given the sentiment a bit more thought. Actually I wish I had one of the Lawn fawn Alphas, mine was either too big or too small for this card. I'll probably get one of the skinny ones on my next shopping spree ;)

I'll be entering the search for a Facebook inspiration team at Lawnscaping with these cards. Keeping my fingers crossed!

That's it for me today. Wednesday I think there will be three posts in my blog and I might squeeze in one for tomorrow so do stop by again for more inspiration :) Thanks for visiting!

Morning glory

IMG_9332

I was supposed to post another card today for my DESIGN in PAPERS post, with a new coloring video. Well, let’s just say I’ve been trying to get that stupid video up on youtube for over two days and it will not work. I’m not a happy camper right now. But, luckely, I had another card done for next week. And it’s the same stamp. Morning Glory from Stampendous. I colored them pink, I did that on the other card too. I had a nagging feeling they might be blue but ignored it. Then this morning a friend posted an image of real Morning Glory on instagram. They were blue. Well, I don’t care. I like pink flowers ;)

Anyways, I really must get back to writing my reports for school. Really quick post today. Keep your fingers cossed I have gotten my video on youtube for next weeks post. Otherwise I might have gone a bit crazy by then and will probably be computerless. And then there will be no posts at all. I’ll place a sacrifice of some kind for the gods of youtube. I wonder if they like Brie cheeze, I have lots of that...

Owl you need is love

IMG_8849

Bam-pa-bapa-baaa.... I have to hum that song in my head every time I see this stamp ;) These owls are totally cute! I colored them with distress markers. I think my sewingmachine doesn’t like sewing through this thick watercolor paper so I had some problems but i like the messy stitching even though it was not my intention to make it messy ;) Let’s just call it a happy accident...

Zentangle

IMG_8773

We had a list of suggested topics to blog about at En liten butik this month and one of them were doodling. I love stamping, really love! Why? Because the result is perfect every time (well, at least in theory... I do mess up occationally... I’ve learned to hide it ;). I do not like to doodle, write or draw. Why? Because I’m never really happy with the result. It always looks messy... Well I thought that I really should give it a chance and rememberd some great zentangle I’ve seen on pinterest. I searched for zentangle patterns and then I started drawing with a pencil, filled it in with a black pen and colored with distress markers. Guess what? I’m happy! It’s not perfect in any way but in the end it looks kind of cool.

IMG_8776

I just stamped a sentiment and embossed it in gold. No decorations at all. Lovely! It took me a whole day but I’m glad I did it. I might even do it again :) Do look at pinterest for some awesome zentangle drawings. WOW! Some people got mad skills! And patience. Lots and lots of patience...

Early christmas

Is it too soon to start making christmas cards? I got this cute stamp in my kit from En liten butik and needed to relax so I spent an evenling looking at a movie about Salmon fishing in Yemen (kind of cute movie) and coloring this stamp. It was super relaxing, to me coloring is like meditation. It just clears all the clutter from my brain and I feel like a new person after. Well as long as I don’t mess up too bad ;)

IMG_8516

I loved the little chubby bird and spent some time looking for a large enough spellbinders die that wouldn’t crop out the bird or the silly dog.

IMG_8518

This card got me in the mood to make more christmas cards. I got some awesome christmas products in my Hobbyworld kit and hopefully you’ll get to see it tomorrow here in the blog. I have Aspen Frost from Basic Grey that I really think looks awesome. And one more series that I just can’t remember the name of. but it looks amazing and now that I made that first card for the season I bet I’ll be popping out christmas cards every now and then and hopefully I’ll even send some this year ;)

Have a nice weekend! Pop back here tomorrow to se whatever I came up with for Hobbyworld. It might be a christmas card or it might be something entirely different. Even I don’t know since I haven’t really started anything yet.

Be strong, brave and creative

IMG_8393

This is my creation for En liten butik this week. I got all sorts of cool product in my kit and felt like playing. I love the stamp called Pointing Midge, she looks like she is saying something important. So it started out as some kind of art journaling and ended up being a card.

IMG_8400

I’m happy with how it turned out, it’s kind of odd :) I need to tell you about the stamp too. I got published in the latest issue of Inzpira Magazine (one day I’ll show you all my publicated projects, I just haven’t gotten to it yet) and on my projects I used Hero Arts stamps. Did you know that Hero Arts has a great publications incentive program? I got to pick products for $75 for my three projects, can you believe that??? I was so happy! Here is a shot of my products, and the little you’re awesome-stamp was in one of the sets. Isn’t it just perfect?!

HA

Now I’ll get back to playing with all the great Hero Arts stuff. Thanks for stopping by!
