Chibitronics and Winnie & Walter bloghop

Today I'm part of a collaboration blog hop between two of my absolute favorite companies in the craft world. Chibitronics and Winnie & Walter. I have stalked followed Winnie & Walter since the start and I adore their wonderful products. And I found the perfect sets to pair up with some fun Chibitronic lights and effect stickers.

You can enter the giveaway by commenting on the blog posts along the way. You have until 11:59 PM CST next Tuesday, May 29th in order to be eligible for the giveaways.  Chibitronics are giving away a $30 starter kit so you have everything you need to start making fun interactive cards with lights. Winnie and Walter are giving away a $30 gift certificate for you to spend on their lovely products. Good luck!

I totally fell for the birthday themed stamp set called Wish Big with Evelin T Designs and I found some dies, In a Word: Birthday Tiles Cutaways, that was to die for. Sorry, couldn't resist it! The big birthday words were perfect to make a window with lights behind with and to add some extra fun I used a blinking effect sticker.

[wpvideo xquE1aaR]

To use an effect sticker is not hard at all. Just connect the negative side of the battery to the - on the effect sticker and then on to the - on the LEDs. The + side of the battery (the top) goes to the + on the effect sticker. Then another connection from blink on the effect sticker and to the + side of the LEDs. My picture of the inside was after the foam tape was added and it looks super messy so I drew a picture of the connection instead.

The switch is of the type you pull out to start the lights. I have gotten the idea from Eiko on the Chibitronics team, it's pretty brilliant, here's a picture from a previous card to show you what it looks like.

So the switch is in the shape of an X and the copper tape goes around it to connect both sides of the cut circuit. I find that it doesn't drain the battery as easily because there is no connection before you want it. A regular push switch sometime connects when something is put on top of it or when you mail the card.

Light up windows with colored LEDs

I had so much fun doing the Chibitronics - MFT stamps blog hop this Friday. If you haven't hopped along yet you can find the post here. There's still time to hop today. If you leave comments along the way you can win prizes, and there are some pretty awesome projects along the way.

Anyway, today I blogged this card on the Chibitronics blog. If you hop on over there you will get the full photo tutorial and a nifty trick how to hide copper tape in narrow spaces.

The houses are a cut file by Pretty Crafty Stuff, you can find the link in the sidebar. I'm thinking about making some new designs for the shop. I haven't made any in a long time and I have some ideas. I'm also happy to get suggestions on new files. I can't promise anything but if I get inspired I might just cook up a new batch.

I'll get back to nursing my cold and feeling sorry for myself now. Maybe I'll watch some Olympics, so far Sweden is doing pretty great :) Are you watching? What are your favorite sports in the winter Olympics? I enjoy watching figure skating and alpine sports but my husband is mainly watching curling. It's a bit slow for my taste.

A blog named Hero 5 year bloghop

Today I'm super happy to have been invited to take part of the five year anniversary of A Blog Named Hero. Not only there's a lot of inspiration to be had but a FANTASTIC giveaway with great prizes.

I was a part of the ABNH DT something like three years ago and I really enjoyed the time on the team. When I started crafting, something like 9-10 years ago, Hero Arts was one of the first stamp companies I discovered. They just keep making fantastic stamps and products all the time and I don't think I will ever get over my first stamp love. Being a part of the team was super exiting for me. As a bonus I met so many incredible talented crafters that still keeps inspiring me. I also made a lot of great crafty friends, all of them very supportive and caring. It was a great team to be on.

I am thrilled getting to not only take part of this second day of the two day long blog hop, but also to hop through it myself and see all the wonderful projects. So let's stop blabbering and get to the good stuff.

I made this card using the Flower Garden stamp set. It's not a new set but I love it because of the many things you can do with it. I made a background using distress ink and stamped a floral pattern in gold on top. I used a diecut inlay technique with foil and glitter cardstock for the hear,t and then heat embossed the sentiment in the set on vellum.

Leading Lady at Winnie & Walter week 5 + Giveaway

Maya_Isaksson_october2016

It's time for my last Leading Lady post for Winnie & Walter, I have really enjoyed making my posts, coming up with all the themes and most of all I have loved getting all the sweet comments from all of you. I want to thank the very sweet Shay for inviting me to be Leading Lady, I've looked forward to October for months.

So for my last post I saved my favourite theme, shaker cards. I really love making shaker cards, they always makes the card a bit special and fun and you get the moving element that is always a treat. And the sound, I love shaking them around. I'm such a child!

I knew right away I wanted to use the big jewel cutaway for a shaker. I would have used all of the cutaways for shakers but I think you would have been bored after a while. Anyways, back to the wonderful big diamond. I backed it with glitter paper to make it sparkle a lot. The detailing is also cut from glitter paper. I got a big pack by Crafters Companion containing glitter, shiny foil and matte foil in gold and I really want to use it on everything now. It's so pretty. I'm getting all the colors when they are back in stock. I really hope glitter won't get out of fashion because I will probably have enough for a lifetime soon, because I hoard... um... collect... it.

The background is made using distress inks and I wanted it to match the sequin mix named after adorable Walter (for those of you who don't know this, Winnie and Walter are cute little dogs). I mixes in some mica powder in water and splattered all over to make it shine even more.

For more shakers go to the Winnie & Walter blog and see my Leading Lady post for today. But first remember to leave a comment on this or any of my other Leading Lady post on my blog for a chance to win the gift card I have been given to give to one of you. It's a $30 certificate to the Winnie & Walter shop (not including shipping and handling) so you can get some of your favourite stamps or cutaways. Yay, right? I will select a winner next Saturday, Nov 5. I will be away on a crafting event all weekend so I will pop in and select the winner when I have a chance and announce it here in the blog.

I hope you have enjoyed my posts and will come back again for my regular posts. I haven't been blogging as I normally do this month due to working a lot but I will get back to my normal 2-3 posts per week again soon. Promise! And we are getting faster internet so I might start to make a few videos for my YouTube channel again, it takes so many hours to upload it now so I haven't really bothered to make them for a while now. I have some tutorials at the Spectrum  Noir channel and blog though if you are interested.

In November I'll also join the 30 days coloring challenge, hosted by Kathy Racoosin (I hope I spelled that right) of The Daily Marker. So if you follow me on instagram (@miffot) you can see what I do there. I love the challenge, you should really take part if you haven't before.

Have a lovely weekend now and see you soon again I hope!

Leading Lady at Winnie & Walter week 4 + Giveaway

Maya_Isaksson_october2016

It's finally Saturday again, I hope you all have had a good week. For my post today my theme was patterned papers. I can't be the only one having a big stash of paper that I never remembers to use? On the Winnie & Walter blog you can find 3 more cards that I made for todays post using patterned papers together with Winnie & Walter stamps and cutaways.

Maya isaksson winnie walter patterned paper leafs

I made this card using no stamps at all. And no coloring or inks whatsoever. If you wanted you could mass produce this card in a lot of different patterns to give to someone and it would be super quick, and still it doesn't look plain because of the dimension. I used a cutaway background plate to emboss the pattern in the background, it always looks good. I have used this technique with all kinds of dies, it works perfectly with rectangles for frames but this die is my favourite.

Now hop on over to Winnie & Walter and see my other projects.

So that's it for today. I will be back next week for my last performance as Leading Lady. I hope you will be back then. In the meantime you can take a look at my other Leading Lady posts here in the blog, I will be giving away a gift card to the Winnie & Walter shop to one of the people commenting on any of them during the month. The last post is next Saturday and I will pick a winner the week after on Nov 5. Thank you for all the lovely comments so far, I'm very happy for each and every one.

Leading Lady at Winnie & Walter week 3 + Giveaway

I'm back for another post over at Winnie & Walter, I can't believe it's already my third week as leading lady. I'm so happy October has five Saturdays, so I still have two weeks left to show you all the fun things I came up with using the fab stamps and cutaways.

Maya_Isaksson_october2016

Today's theme is stripes! I fell in love with the set Scenery: Stripes and the stamps was the inspiration that made me want to do a whole post with stripes.

Maya isaksson winnie walter striped shaker

I started with this card, I found a good color theme on Pinterest and tried it out on a scrap piece of paper before making a card. I don't have all the pretty ink colors in other inks than distress inks, they are better for other techniques than stamping bold images, they tend to get a bit uneven. I solved this by using my Misti stamping tool and stamped three times on top of each other and got a pretty good impression in the end. I turned it into a shaker card with vellum behind the pretty diecut heart so you can sort of see the sequins but they won't distract from the pattern on the card. I was super happy with how it turned out. Stripes are so fun and easy to customise in different colors for different looks.

In the Winnie & Walter blog I have two more striped cards to show you so hop on over there if you want to see them.

See you again next Saturday, I have some great cards ready to show you so I hope you will come back for that! The theme for next week is patterned papers.

Leading Lady at Winnie & Walter week 2 + Giveaway

Maya_Isaksson_october2016

I'm back for another week of Winnie & Walter creations. Today I have used book paper for my cards. I have an old book that got damaged in a move so pages was missing and I keep it close to use for mixed media projects and other crafty things. I love the texture the printed text gives to everything. For my projects today I used Gesso to cover the pages first to make sure the water from my watercoloring would not damage the pages, and I also like it when just some of the structure of the text is visible under the color.

Maya isaksson winnie walter book paper woods

For this card I used In Bloom: Renee's Leaves and stamped the images in black and heat embossed the images before coloring them with watercolors. I used the Essentials: Audrey Cutaways to cut out a white piece of cardstock and stamped the text from Wishing You with Evelin T Designs and gold embossed it. I adhered all my colored elements around the text for a clean and simple autumn themed card for a friend.

Please hop on over to the Winnie & Walter blog to see my other two projects for todays post, I had really fun with this technique. You should give it a try, you might like it as much as I did. Book paper should be a staple in every scrapbookers stash. But please don't go around and kill innocent books, use one that is already damaged. The whole books are better to read or give to a friend or donate. (I love books if you can't tell, I have too many even though I mostly listen to audio books or read on my Kindle nowadays. Books are still nice to have around)

Thank you for all the sweet comments and to Shay for inviting me to the Winnie & Walter blog. I have read all of your lovely comments and I will get around to answer every single one but it's been a busy week. They really made me happy so thank you. And keep commenting on any (or all) of my Leading Lady posts here this month, you will be in the drawing of a gift card (a coupon code which does not include shipping & handling) for the Winnie & Walter shop that I will give away after my last post for the month is up. My last post is on October 29 and I will draw a winner one week after that on Nov 5th. I will select a comment from one of the five Leading Lady posts here in the blog and the winner will be announced here in my blog.

Thank you so much for stopping by and make sure to visit Winnie & Walter to see the rest of my cards made for this week. And I'll be back next Saturday for more Winnie & Walter inspiration!
