Leading Lady at Winnie & Walter week 1 + Giveaway

I am super excited to have been invited to be Leading Lady for October at the Winnie & Walter blog. I discovered Winnie & Walter right around when they started and has been following the blog and loving the stamps ever since. I was ridiculously happy when Shay asked me to be Leading Lady and waited (not very) patiently for October. The former Leading Ladies have been such an inspiration to me, as well as the Talent. I hope you will visit the blog to see the rest of my creations and also look at all the other posts there. AND as if that isn't enough, it's World Card Making Day and they always have the best inspiration over there.

So let's get on to the fun stuff. The projects. I instantly thought of the idea to do negative coloring. I wanted to try to mask the stamped images and color only the background. I used a few different kinds of coloring and it turned out really fun! I really love to make backgrounds and this technique is perfect for playing with colors.

For my first card I did a fall theme. I love the leaves in In Bloom: Renee's Leaves and they look perfect in all colors. The sentiment is from Happiest of Holidays with Evelin T Designs. The  Essentials: Audrey Cutaways  is a perfect set of dies, I reach for it all the time, I used it to cut out the tags for the sentiment.

If I were you I would hop on over to the Winnie & Walter blog for two more projecs, more information on how I made them and last but not least all the fun inspirational WCMD events.

W&w_30giftcard

Winnie & Walter has been super generous and given me a $30 gift certificate for their shop to give away to one of you (a coupon code which does not include shipping & handling), so in the end of the month after all my five posts are up I will give it to someone who has commented on one of my Winnie & Walter posts during the month. My last post is on October 29 and I will draw a winner one week after that on Nov 5th. I will select a comment from one of the five Leading Lady posts here in the blog.

So that's it from me for this first week. I can't wait to show you what I made for next week. See you then!

Stencils and AquaBlend pencils

For my tutorial at Spectrum Noir this month I did a video on how to use AquaBlend Pencils with stencils for a hand colored look. I had a lot of fun with this technique and made three cards.

Chalkboard and pastels

Maya_isaksson_simon_says_stamp_watermarked

I was playing with my AquaTints and made a background from one of the papers by die cutting it with a Winnie & Walter die and sticking it down on top of some plain white cardstock. I think the Pastel AquaTints are so soft and pretty and the background turned out really good. I stamped a speech bubble on vellum and since it was a large image and I didn't ink it up very well it ended up looking a bit chalk board-looking. I Did use my misti for this but chose not to double stamp it because it looked cool when you could see through spots of it. I flipped it over and stamped a greeting on it and attached it to the card. I like the contrast with the black on top of the pastels.

I hope you liked my card! See you soon again.

Hello

Spectrum Noir Maya Isaksson hello watermarked

I wanted to try blending my Aqua Tints using those mini ink blending foam to see how it worked. I would say it probably depends a bit on the paper you use (just like when you blend distress ink) but you can get pretty good results and it uses less ink than when you paint it on. I just used the droppers to drop straight onto the foam and blended in circular motions. After I was done I just rinsed out the foam so I can re-use it. I used colors from the Pretty Pastel set to get a soft background.

I discut the hello using a Winnie & Walter die and some tiny hearts for decoration. The top is cut with a Mama Elephant die. I also doodled some dots for detail and finished of by painting little dots of the clear Sparkle pen by Spectrum Noir randomly over the background to give it some shimmer.

January challenge at Spectrum Noir

Spectrum Noir Maya Isaksson january challenge watermarked

Well, I'm a bit late to post this card for the January challenge at Spectrum Noir but there is still time to join. The theme is Anything Goes so you can really make anything as long as you use Spectrum Noir products. So go have fun!

I gave no line coloring another go. Sort of. I stamped with the same colors I colored with and it helped a lot not thinking of it as no line coloring. I know it's weird but for some reason as soon as I think I should do no line coloring I just get stuck and think it's so hard. This was not very hard at all, I just colored as I would normally with the difference being the lines were the same colors. I'm complicated I guess ;)

I do adore this stamp set by Winnie & Walter, I love coloring flowers and Addie's Garden is a very pretty floral set. And I only used two markers, so you really don't need all the things (but you didn't hear it from me and please don't tell my husband...).

Spectrum Aquas used: Scarlet and Moss.

Merry Christmas mega post

Today is the day we celebrate christmas in Sweden so I wanted to wish you all a very merry christmas! I do it by posting all my left over christmas projects that haven't made it to the blog before. I hope you find something you like and I'm so glad you stopped by.

May isaksson tea dispenser

These are tea bag dispensers, I learned to make them by my very nice table neighbours on the crop I went to a few weeks ago. I did a tutorial on them for the Crafters Companion UK advent calendar so If you are interested you should check out their blog.

This is not a christmas card but I made it on the crop and thought I'd share it anyways.

I could not let the negatives go to waste when making the other card so this is a bonus one.

For a sketch challenge at the crop, I even used some patterned papers for this!

December challenge at Spectrum Noir

SpectrumNoirMayaIsakssonDecemberChallengeWM

The theme for the December challenge at Spectrum Noir is CAS. I always have a hard time knowing what really is CAS. I think I gravitate to CAS but it is hard to stop before tipping over on the other side to not so CAS ;) This is my try anyways. I used the lovely stamps I won from Winnie & Walter with the Spectrum Noir markers and the new Sparkle pens. And Gold embossing. And also some glossy accents. See what I mean, when to stop? I think it turned out pretty cute anyways.

Do hop on over to Spectrum Noir to see all the details and make something using Spectrum Noir products for a chance to win.

Christmas Monster

Maya Isaksson Spectrum Noir gummiapan watermarked

I love to make fun cards for the holidays and I made this using this cute monster guy by a Swedish company called Gummiapan. Isn't he adorable? I partially inked up the sentiment from one of the new Winnie & Walter sets to make it two rows instead of one long. I did consider cutting it apart but I still feel like they will scream. I'm way to attached to my stamps even though I do sometimes cut them apart too if needed.

I used my Spectrum Noir Markers to color him: DR5, CR9, CR10, JG5, LG5, GG1. Really simple coloring. I did go in with the blender pen in the spots so that I didn't have to color around them. I finished up with some Glossy Accents on his eyes and spots and on the little heart. That's it. A not so holiday-y holiday card ;)

Season's Greetings - Coloring on Kraft Cardstock

Spectrum noir maya isaksson color on kraft watermarked

I got inspired by and old tutorial from the Spectrum Noir blog on coloring on kraft cardstock. I have used the Spectrum Noir pencils on kraft cardstock but never the markers so I had to give it a try. I used some of the new Winnie & Walter stamps that I won, they are so pretty! I stamped the bird on a branch and gave it a shot. I picked pretty dark colors to make them really show up and I might have gone a bit to dark with them but I was really happy with the look so I'll definitely give this a try again. I added some snow with a white gel pen because it lightens up the card a bit. And I did cover the bird with the Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen. Because I can't stop reaching for them.

I angled the card to make the sparkle show.... It's hard to capture on pictures :)
