I know many peoples first adventure with watercolor is using watercolor pencils but I never tried them. I have some by Faber-Castell that I got when I was a guest on the Design Memory Craft blog and I used them for some shading on mixed media projects but I never actually painted anything with them. So when Spectrum Noir declared they would release the AquaBlend pencils I was super exited to try a new medium. Let me tell you I wasn't disappointed. I did have to try some different papers and this is one of my first tries so it doesn't have much dimension but he's still a cute little fox. He's one of the three amigos by Mama Elephant. I have found out that I actually love coloring on Sheena cardstock, which is smoother than watercolor cardstock but it still handles water very well and doesn't curl much when wet. You will have to be a bit careful and not over work it, it does pill if you are too heavy handed. But so does watercolor paper too if you are getting to aggressive with your blending. I found that the pigment reacted very nicely with water and left almost no trace after the pencil as long as you didn't press really hard. The pencils are very pigmented too so they are really nice to work with. I am in love!
