Design in papers tags maya isaksson

I made some tags to bring when I was visiting my aunt who loves to read. I always make sure to have some with me when I go but this time I did not have any laying around so I made new ones. I forgot how fun it is to make tags, they are so small and allows for a lot of playing. I used left over strips of 6x6 paper, the left over pieces from covering a card front is the perfect tag size. I dug into my Lawn Fawn stash and colored with Spectrum Aquas.

This was my post for Design in Papers this week. I'll be back soon again with some new creations. I hope to see you then!

Season's Greetings - Coloring on Kraft Cardstock

Spectrum noir maya isaksson color on kraft watermarked

I got inspired by and old tutorial from the Spectrum Noir blog on coloring on kraft cardstock. I have used the Spectrum Noir pencils on kraft cardstock but never the markers so I had to give it a try. I used some of the new Winnie & Walter stamps that I won, they are so pretty! I stamped the bird on a branch and gave it a shot. I picked pretty dark colors to make them really show up and I might have gone a bit to dark with them but I was really happy with the look so I'll definitely give this a try again. I added some snow with a white gel pen because it lightens up the card a bit. And I did cover the bird with the Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen. Because I can't stop reaching for them.

I angled the card to make the sparkle show.... It's hard to capture on pictures :)

Happy holidays

I'm up at WOW! today with this card where I used one of my new diecuts by Winnie & Walter and covered it with the new Mistletoe Magic embossing powder. It's super glittery and pretty. Hop on over to the WOW! blog to see all of the card and read about how I made it.

Mixed media cards

Today it was time for my mixed media project for CiLi in Papers, usually I make a page in my Art Journal but this time I wasn't in the mood so I made four mixed media cards instead. Well, they aren't so much mixed media as made with some supplies I usually don't use as often on cards.

This one is embossing paste with embossing powder on top.

This one are a plaid that I painted using Distress paint. I masked off the stripes using post it tape to make them equally wide. I like the layering of colors because you can see the stripes in the color since I added it with the dauber.

Here's just the left over from the previous card.

I went a little crazy with the Distress Paints, I drew triangles and made free hand lines and went nuts with the stamps. Very artsy, not my fav but I was in the mood to play so I decided on keeping it because as long as you have fun it doesn't have to be perfect, right? I do have a bit too much OCD to do this all the time but once in a while it's fun!

See you soon! Until then, have a great weekend and take care :)

Trying the Minc pen

Design in papers maya isaksson toner pen

I made this card to try out the new Minc Toner pen. I drew a frame on patterned paper and I think it turned out fun. I can really see the possibilities for the pen. I added some images from the Lawn Fawn Toboggan Together stamp set that I colored using Spectrum Noir markers and Sparkle pens. I think the reindeer that is sitting on top of the square looks so fun!

I'm looking forward to a three day crop this weekend, meeting a lot of friends. It's a 5-6 hour drive so not really next door. But my aunt lives i the town and I look forward to seeing her too! It's been way too long since last time. Hopefully I have worked ahead so I've got some post scheduled for next week, you never know! ;)

This is my project for Design in Papers this week. I hope to see you again soon!

Happy birthday to Pretty Crafty Stuff

Pretty crafty stuff maya isaksson november

Today one year ago I started my Etsy shop Pretty Crafty Stuff. Since then I started the Facebook page (that you really should check out if you haven't) and I've got an amazing DT that posts equally amazing projects once a week there. I've also seen some of my designs turned into stamps thanks to the great people at WOW Embossing powders. I really couldn't imagine all that when I was starting out making a few cut files a year ago. I hope I can continue making files, even if it is mostly for fun PCS is my baby and I'm really enjoying the creative outlet that it is.

This card was made using one of the files on top of a watercolored background. You can't tell by the photo but the cutout is covered in clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen so it's shimmery and pretty.

I'm so happy I've got so many supporting friends that lifts me up and makes me believe I can do stuff like this. I could not have done it with out help from all of you, I'm not even going to try to list names because you are many and I don't want to forget anyone. But a special thanks to Mary Dawn, Petra and Christin in the DT that keeps posting so many pretty projects using the files and coming up with ideas for new files. You guys are the best <3

Playing with the Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens

Spectrum noir sparkle pens flowers watermarked

I used the very shimmery Sparkle pens by spectrum Noir to color this image. I used nothing else and I'm very happy with the result. They blend so beautifully, both with each other and with water. The petals I colored by using a darker color in the shaded areas and pulling it out with a lighter color. The background I made by coloring around the paper and using water to fade it out. Fun, right?

Here's a closeup of all that shimmer. I adore these pens! I want to add glitter to everything now :) The flowers are by Lawn Fawn from a set called Flutter by and the sentiment by Winnie & Walter from The Big, the Bold and Friends. Colors of Sparkle Pens used: Rose Quartz, Solar Red, Moonstone and Olive Jade.

Merry Christmas with Stampendous snowflakes

Maya isaksson merry christmas stampendous

Here's my post for Design in Papers today. I made this card using some new (to me) stamps by Stampendous that came with matching masks in the package. I had to make a background and white emboss the snowflakes. I used distress inks because I wanted to use the templates to make the snow flakes lighter than the background and it worked out as I wanted it to. Very fun!

I hope to see you soon again. I have made some just-for-fun projects recently and as soon as the weather clears up I'll snap some pictures and blog them. Hope to see you again soon :)

Aquatint Background tutorial

Spectrum noir maya isaksson november tutorial watermarked

I shared a tutorial for making the pretty background for this card using AquaTints on the Spectrum Noir blog yesterday. I really love how this card turned out with the bold black in the background and the pretty pink flowers in front. The sentiment by Winnie & Walter is just fit perfect with the flowers. I was so happy when I was done with the card and am happy to share it. For the full tutorial on the background make sure you pop on over to the Spectrum Noir blog. If you haven't visited before you really should. It's full of useful tips and tricks and tutorials and wonderful projects made by the SN team.

Spectrum Noir November challenge

Spectrum Noir Maya Isaksson November challenge watermarked

I'm a bit late posting this. I made the post and just forgot to hit the publish button. But there's plenty of November left to take part of the challenge at Spectrum Noir this month. The theme is Christmas/Winter. I made this card trying out the new fab Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. They are soooo much fun and so shimmery. I used them to color the sheep and the red stripes, pulling them out with a waterbrush and blending to get the shades I wanted. It's so hard to capture the shimmer but they are very pretty!

I used the colors Rose Quartz, Smoked Quartz, Cosmos, Crystal Clear and Red Berry. The cute sheep are from the set Baaah Humbug by Lawn Fawn.

I hope to see your entry in the challenge, have fun!

Warm winter wishes

Design in papers maya isaksson lawn fawn baah humbug

I must have gotten winter on my mind because I keep making winter themed cards. I made this for Design in Papers using a couple of stamp sets by Lawn Fawn. Baaah Humbug and Joy to the Woods were the ones I used. I made a small scene with the sheep and some birches and masked some snowy hills in the background. I think the sheep is super cute, he's colored with my Spectrum Noir markers.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the winter will stay away for a while more. I wish it was spring already but I guess we can't just skip winter. That would be weird, right? I'll just keep making winter themed cards for a while more and remember what winter used to be with snow for months and no rain and grey skies (the fact that the sun didn't rise above the horizon for a month seems to have escaped my mind). I just really hate rain. I live in the wrong place.
