Clean and Simple Cardmaking 2, day 9

Today was all about texture. I made two cards today, I need some warming up first I guess. Anyways, I used this great Spellbinders die that I got in my last DT-kit from Hobbyworld. I tried to use it to cut and it looks nice and all, butI haven’t really got any good ideas on what to do with the dieut after making it. Today I used it to emboss instead and it turned out beautiful!

This is actually the second card I made but I like it the best. There are texture from the embossing and I also put glitter on the panel and some gold perfect pearls. I used some leftovers from yesterdays projects to make little flags to embellish. It doesn’t photo as nice as it looks. I like using black as a card base more and more. It makes everything pop!

Thiss is the first card I made. There are texture from the embossingfolder and some gold splatter on it. It’s ok but kind of... blah...

I wonder if tomorrow is the last day of class or if there is a bous day this week too? I hope there is even though I’ll be quit busy this weekend I guess. Me and my daughter is having our birthdays and I really should get the house looking a bit better I guess. But this class is so much more fun!

Clean and Simple Cardmaking 2, day 8

Today was day 8 and it was a great day. We were focusing on techniques again and I learned a new one (to me) with salt and watercolors. I made two cards today since I made a bunch of test watercolor backgrounds and they all turned out so pretty.

IMG_7619

The black cardstock makes the colors pop and I like this card that I made from some left over pieces. Totally cute!

IMG_7610

I also made this that is really pretty! I got to play with my new Spellbinder dies, and I like the result! It’s delightful ;) Can’t wait for tomorrows class. I just hope there are no more one layer cards!

Clean and Simple Cardmaking 2, day 7

This day the assignment was to make another one layer card. I really suck at this! It took me all nigt, I threw away four cards and kept two that I really didn’t like all that much but I was so frustrated with my creations that I gave up and went to bed. Actually I looked at the cards today and felt they was sort of ok anyways. Not great but good enough ;)

IMG_7616

This was like the 5th card I made and I was not happy with the embossing of the words. But the design was ok and I kept going with (and in) circles. I made another card and accidently reached for clear embossing powder instead of white and liked the look of it even though that card was totally spoiled. I started on another one and it tured out ok.

IMG_7614

I must say I love the effect of clear embossing powder on black cardstock. It looks great up close. This is as good as I could do with one layer cards. I give up. This is not for me! But it was a great challenge and it got me thinking a lot about the design before I made the card. Might have been a learning experience :)

Clean and Simple Cardmaking, day 6

This week I’ll try to keep up with the class. Todays assignment was to use one of three great sketches to make a card. I didn’t really know what to do at first, but I started out by stamping a background with letters. I used Distress Markers to color the background in different colors and added some water for a watercolor effect.

IMG_7603

At first I was happy with just the background and the black banner but it felt like something was still missing. I filled a vellum bag with some sequins and wood stars and added behind the banner and felt like the card was done. I like the black banner a lot! Can’t wait for tomorrows class! I’m having fun :)

Clean and Simple Cardmaking, bonus day 1

Ok, this is one of my favourites! The bonus day was all about die-cuts and ways to use them. I made a card using the Cameo and its so cute for Valentines or for someone you love.

IMG_7591

This wood patterned cardstock is amazing. It’s thick and so beautiful. I hardly ever use it because its too nice ;) But for this card I wanted something extra. Doesn’t it look great? And it cut beautifully in the Cameo on a really slow setting since I was afraid the knife would break on the thick cardstock.

I’m always amazed seeing what I come up with after all the inspiration from this and other classes. I would never have made any of these cards if I didn’t have this inspiration from the videos. Loving it :)

Clean and Simple Cardmaking, day 5

This day was all about stretching your stamps, we were supposed to make thre sketches using the same stamp in different ways. Actually I cheated on this. I rarely make sketches ahead of time (even though I like making sketches and follow them), and I decided to challenge myself by picking a stamp I havent yet used and use it in a different way than it was intended.

IMG_7588

I love my Hero Art/Studio Calico stamp sets, and this journaling spot I actually never used. I hate writing on lines and cant even use lined paper to take notes on. But then I thought about using it for a background instead and made a window card. I love this card with the pops of white embossing. I am going to figure out two more ways to use this stamp, but not today.

Clean and Simple Cardmaking 2, day 4

This day was all about using white space. That’s a tricky one! Not as tricky as one layer card but close... I love looking at cards with a lot of white space but I have a hard time quitting while I’m ahead... This card features white space that’s not white. I made some paint splatter on the background and felt better ;)

IMG_7596

I used a jar-stamp that I got in a Cocoa Daisy-kit ages ago and haven’t used until now. It’s really cute! I like this card, it’s really playful and fun. I’ll be practicing more on white space I think...

Clean and Simple Cardmaking 2, day 2

Day two was a tricky one. We were to make a one layer card and I find it soooo hard. I had to start over three times with this card and it took forever to make.

IMG_7583

It looks simple enough but well, there was some obstacles to get over to get there ;) Well, I made it and it looks ok. Not the est card I’ve made but I do think I learned some from make it.

Clean and Simple Cardmaking 2, day 1

Last year I took the class Clean and Simple Cardmaking at Onlinecardclasses.com and I loved it! I was so happy to see there was another one this year and had to sign up. The first week I haven’t had any time to scrap but I try to get back on track this weekend. I’m a bit behinde but I’ll blog my “homework” as I make them. First day we got some great sketches to work with. I made this card that I think turned out great!

IMG_7578

The picture wasn’t great, there is a pink patterned paper behind the teacup and the strip in the top are some glitter tape from American Crafts. The grid is stamped with some silver ink, really cute! I think the card looks great and am very happy with it. Julie Ebersole made the card this was inspired by, she is one of my crafty inspirations. I love her videos and she makes amazing cards.

Notes to Self

Jättekul såklart men ja...
