I had a Make-it-work-moment when I made this card. I saw this technique on Piterest using a doilie as a mask making pretty patterns. Well, I was a bit underwhelmed by the results of my first try. But when the doilies dried they looked super pretty! I used the doilies to cover up the failed background and was happy as a clam. Don't know why a clam should be happier than other creatures but I guess they are. Well, to make a long story shorter, I was super happy with the soft color of this card. I love all the pastel tones I see around the web but for some reason my cards gets a lot brighter and more saturated. I actually used the papers from the Stitched collection by Amy Tan as a guide for what watercolors I would use. Why don't I do that more often. I always color everything first, and then try to find papers that match, which I never do and end up using no patterned papers instead. Will do this again. Also, it would look amazing with one of those gold doilies layered here. Just sayin.
This is my post for DESIGN in PAPERS for this week. Having a lot of fun with the Stitched Collection. There will probably be more :) Thanks for stopping by!
